AMWA to host Seminar on Advanced Media Workflows and MXF
This event will explore the advantages of file-based workflows in media facilities and demonstrate MXF used in post-production processes.
Atlanta, GA - 28 August 2009: The Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) has announced that it will host a Seminar on Advanced Media Workflows and MXF, October 26, 2009, at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, Hollywood, California, USA. The seminar is a pre-conference event for the 2009 SMPTE Tech Conference and Expo and will begin with an industry panel presentation, followed by technical demonstration and end with a Cocktail Reception.
The seminar panel of studio, post-production and industry experts will talk about what they are actually doing today with file-based workflows in their facilities. They will also share how they are looking to improve their metadata workflow through the production and distribution process. Confirmed speakers are:

Brad Gilmer, the AMWA's executive director said “We are pleased that the AMWA and the SMPTE are co-sponsoring this seminar. It promises to bring together production and post-production experts, vendors and users to explore the current generation of file based workflows and future expectations.”
The seminar will include a demonstration of MXF workflows handling essence and modifying metadata through the post-production process using a variety of vendor equipment. Gilmer explained “This will provide an opportunity to see how users and manufacturers are working together on solutions to improve metadata workflow, reduce re-keying of critical information and save money.”
The event will begin at 1:00 PM and feature an industry panel presentation, technical demonstration, and the Cocktail Reception from 5:30 to 7:00 PM will provide the opportunity for participants to discuss technical issues with vendors and speakers in a relaxed environment. Attendees are encouraged to take advantage of this time to discuss and explore individual technical challenges and solutions with key individuals on a one-on-one basis.
